A simple gesture, perhaps used by most in The World – ''Crossed Fingers'' is seen as a means of imploring good luck or fortune in relations to a proposed Act. In reality, the gesture is many thousands of years old and is in fact related to another Article of recent note.. ''May God Have Mercy On Your Soul''. As we have seen with that legal phrase passed by a Judge upon a convicted person of a crime of Capital offense (such as Death). It well known in The Middle Ages, that ''God'' was the ultimate Giver of Life and Bringer of Death. To violate either tenure invoked ''His'' ultimate punishment. And while a Judge was seen as a viable Representative ''on Earth'', many such employed as such worried about their passing on Judgment. Hence, many Medieval Judges ''Crossed'' their fingers for protection.

Other theories about crossing fingers were linked to early Christians who made the sign as both protection and as a means of secretly identifying each other, when the very practice of their Religion meant torture and death (Ancient Rome). In doing this gesture, it did not resemble the traditional Roman execution device of The Crucifix (which, if made as a gesture, would have given instant identification to spies trying to ferret out Christians). However, some Cultures link Crossing Fingers as a curse. To do so in Southeast Asia would be the equivalent of the much known ''Middle Finger'' gesture, used into convey to another to do a particular ''intimate act'' to themselves.
