Crocotta

 Seen in India and in parts of Ethiopia, The Crocotta is a dog-like beast. Said to be the size of an average (to large hound), they have strangely colored furs. They are very aggressive to humans and other animals and seem to be possessed with an almost human-like intelligence. Many Medieval writings combine them with part Wolf and part Dog (maybe a Hybrid). They are said to even dig up the Dead (for a meal) when in need of food. The Crocotta (or something VERY close to it) was even written about by the Ancient Greek Historian Pliny.
