Seen in many Cultures, it was The Chinese who apparently refined The Act of Cording as Torture and information retrieval around the 19th Century. In practice and application, a Victim was tied with ropes to a variety of different wooden frames and in different positions (depending). Various cords were next applied to pressure points on the legs and arms. Using knots or small wooden latches, pressure was applied by twisting repeatedly. Depending on the pressure point, extreme pain could be inflicted (and likewise relived). Although painful – no serious damage was inflicted, unless that was the ultimate goal.
