Harvest was an important function in Ancient Rome. Perhaps the most important staple of which was Grain. Rome venerated a Deity called ‘’Consus’’ for protection of a yearly harvest. His Cult and Temple figured prominently in Romes Circus Maximus. In representation, Consus was first shown as a simple Wheat Grain. Later, during The Republic Era, He was associated with a Wild Horse. In addition to His important place as a ‘’Nature Deity’’, Consus was also invoked during ‘’secret conferences’’ or meetings. Taking an oath on His name was seen as good as a ‘’Blood Oath’’.
