A variation on the previously discussed Device known as "The Spanish Tickler", the Practice of Combing was part Torture and part Execution (if need be). It's use can be traced back to Ancient Persia and Sumeria. By the 15th Century, Combing had become a popular method used by the infamous Spanish Inquisition. Simply made, a "typical" Comb - resembled the common Hair straightening device in ''looks'' only. A wooden block was cut to fit into the palm of the hand. Affixed to one side were a series of 5 to 7-inch sharpened Spikes. These Spikes could be the same length or staggered. The Victim, once suitably secured to a Rack or related stationary device, would have Combs drug across their body (either front or back, depending on the "pleasure" of The Practitioner). Skill was used to go no deeper than less than ''less an inch'' into the skin. Intense pain was the result (as were many open wounds). Often salt or some other caustic mineral or fluid was spilt over the agitated flesh. Disfigurement or outright death (infection and sepsis) was the ultimate goal of Combing. Past the 17th Century, the Practice faded from use.
