In several Caribbean Folk Magic Sects a ''Coco Macaque'' is a name given to a special ‘’magical staff’’ or stick. Crafted by specialized carpenters, often wood (tree) is chosen and previously blessed by a Priest. A worker then carves the wood into a walking staff. Thru each section of carving, The Coco Macaque is subjected to ‘’sacred fire’’ which not only hardens the woods but insures no ‘’Evil Spirit’’ can possess the stick.  Once cured, The Coco Macaque is wielded by a Priest for much of His ‘’career’’, very much as a ‘’wand’’ would be used by a Sorcerer or Alchemist. some attach various embellishments (skulls, trinkets or related ''Mojo''). These symbols harken to The Priests ''power'' and skills thru Life. Such ‘’devices’’ are seen as being very special to the individual Practitioner and are often buried with a Priest to make sure that it’s years of acquired ‘’magic’’ and power is NOT stolen by a rival.
