''Cloverfield'' (2008)

 A 2008 American Monster Movie, it was created in the current popular film style known as Mockudrama , by Director/Producer J.J. Abrams (of Star Trek, Star Wars fame). The movie centers around lost and recovered personal footage shot by a group of friends in New York City (on New Year's Eve). They (and the Audience), experience an invasion by a 200 foot tall Alien lifeform dubbed Cloverfield by The US Government. The Monster sets about destroying New York City (despite all attempts by The US Military to stop it). The ensuing chaos is filmed by our prevously mentioned group, as they attempt to escape the City. To make matters worse, Cloverfield is covered with small 8 foot tall parasitic organisms that eat ANYTHING that moves. Even their bite causes the victim to eventually explode from some unknown alien virus/venom! Does our group make it? Does New York survive? does Cloverfield get a sequel some day? Well, kinda. Several ''Canon Related'' sequels were made but none that fully explore ''The Cloverfield Monster'' origins - which was sad. Originally, Producers were hoping to create an American-style version of Japan's ''Godzilla'', which has seen MANY interations (to be sure). The Film, due it it being classed (later) as ''Found Footage'' Genre, really didn't play as well as hoped. Still, worth a watch!
