A ''Protector of Water'' – in particular those sources used for purification before and after various Folk (Voodoo) Ceremonies, Clermeil is viewed as a ''Cool'' or ''Peaceful'' Loa. Seen more so in Louisiana (US) Folk Magic, He is often portrayed in Art as a nondescript Caucasian Boy, often with ''piercing eyes'' (of Blue or Golden). Clermeil has roots in Haiti (The Caribbean), where is is portrayed as an African Teen Boy. Haitian versions also attach the Title ''General Clermeil'', relating to His ''placement'' of Power among other Loas.
