A Scottish ''Sorcery Legend'', the so-called ''Clay Body'' was a construct made by a Witch or Warlock. This was a ''life-sized'' figure ''made to resemble'' the intended victim. Next, the Witch would place the clay figure in a stream (with a waterfall source or some water that would ''trickle'' onto the clay figurine). As the clay figure ''slowly melted'' so to would the intended victim start to wither away. The only counteraction to this spell was to find the clay body and remove it from the water source. Once ''dried'', the spell was supposed to break. Some of the earliest ''surviving'' clay bodies are dated to the 17th Century with the ''Ritual'' known to exist into the early 20th Century.
