In Hindu Mythos, ‘’Chitragupta’’ was a Deity tasked by Vishnu, to maintain all Records of Human achievements as well as Their transgressions. Kept in a large ledger, it was Chitragupta who then delivered such information to Vishnu. This was used to judge One when They died (thus determining Their ultimate reward or punishment). He was often portrayed next to The God Yama, associated with Death.
