A classic American low budget ''Zombie Flick'', 1972s ''Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things'' is a much overlooked ''Walking Dead'' fun feast. The Color film was Drive-In Movie fare, at a time when the outings were slowly dying (being replaced by the beginnings of the large Mall Movie Theaters). Bad Acting is the norm in the film, but the otherwise ''cheap'' Zombie make-up still creates a ''jewel'' in the then young Zombie Film which would soon ''take off''. Roughly, a Groups of Theater Actors (Community Theater at that), meet at the behest of their despotic Director/Producer, on a small and deserted Florida Island not far from the ''lights'' of The City of Miami. Thinking it a necessary to their professional advancement, the Group is forced to participate in a ''Black Magic'' Ceremony. The Rite requires ta dead body and as it would have it, The Island is really a long, unused Cemetery. Digging up a corpse for use, the Group reluctantly helps to conjure a spell. Thinking it just a mild case of prankish ''fun'' they unwittingly resurrect the ENTIRE Cemetery!
The Ghouls resurrect (in various forms of decay), heading for the ''source'' of The Spell (the cabin that The Theater Group is using). They're goal is to eat them! However, The Spell take longer to manifest it's results, and the corpse INSIDE (affectionately known as ''Orville''), takes longer to resurrect. By the time out Group realizes that they are under attack, The Island Zombies besiege the cabin. ''Orville'' makes short work of the Director and of course, the rest of the Group falls prey (and dinner) to the Island's ''Hungry Dead''. The final shot is a group of Zombies who find the boat the Group used to come to The Island. Our ''Zombies'' set sail heading for The City of Miami! In 2011, plans were set to make a ''big budget'' remake of the film (no doubt capitalizing on the recent ''Zombie Craze''), but the plan fizzed. ''Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things'' is required viewing for any true ''Zombiephile''.
