Ch'iang Shih

From Ancient China, is The Ch'iang Shih. These creatures are similar with regards to zombies and re-animated corpses. If a persons dies or is killed (and not buried) evil spirits will possess the body and bring it back to life. Their goal is to kill as many living people as possible. The evil spirits only have as long as the body will keep (decomposed). If the body becomes to unusable, the evil spirits will abandon it and search for a fresh one. In Ancient China (traditionally), if one came across the body of a dead person on the road (or in the woods)  one was obligated to bury it immediately!
