A local Legend, Charman would well be served as the Star of his own Modern Horror Movie. Located near The Camp Cove Camping Ground, in Ojai, Ventura County, California a stretch of State Route climbs through the Hills and Mountains of The Region. Popular for years as a recreational spot, the Area is also well known for Hauntings and strange Paranormal occurrences. Several Myths are well known, with that of The Charman being the most popular. The story goes back to the late 1940s. A Father and Son were involved in a Car accident on the Overlook, in which one of the Vehicles did not stop to render help or go and get some. The Car with The Son and Father, tumbled off the Road and rolled downward. The Son was thrown clear. It was said that the Car crashed to a stop, only to explode in flames. The Sin, badly injured, tried in vain to save his screaming (and burning alive) Father.

Eventually, The Son was able to pull his Father out of the wreckage, but E was horribly burned beyond recognition (and by then, quite dead). It is said the Son went insane with grief, when he tried to pull his Father s corpse up the Hill for help, only to have his skin peel away in his hands. As with any Horror Story in which revenge is the primary motivator, The Boy was supposedly found by Authorities was, quite insane and wearing his Father s skin . Some versions have The Son running off into the Woods, never to be seen again at least among The Living. Now , if one stops near the site of the accident and calls out the name of Charman ( Charred Man ), blood cuddling screams will be heard, as He will answer one. Some variations claim that sometimes Cars passing through are attacked by a flaming figure , as if to exact some kind of revenge, especially to speeding Cars.
