A rather bizarre Horror/Sci-Fi Film, 2016s ''Cell'' was based on Stephen King's 2006 Novel of the same name. More curious, is that King actually wrote the Screenplay. In short, ''Cell'' is a take on The ''Zombie'' Genre craze sweeping The World at the time (did it ever stop?) The film deals with a an unknown and never explained ''signal'' broadcast over Cellphones, which – if heard thru the ear of the Listener, drives them insane. Worse, it turns people into a form of ''Techno Zombie'', bent of killing with great rage – anyone who is not so ''transformed''. The ''Zombies'' behave in a type of ''Hive Mentality'', communicating thru transmitting an audio signal (high pitched whine). When one is not running around killing, they mass together around Communications Towers and Relays, acting very much as Bee's do (confusing?). The Film was a ''great idea'' left ''flat'' for most (although you would have expected much more from King). Some genuine ''scary moments'' are sadly TOO similar to ''28 Days Later'', almost every George Romero ''Dead'' Films and worst of all – TOO much like those classic Star Trek ''Baddies'' – ''The Borg'' (maybe). The Book was somewhat better. Still, ''Cell'' is worth the few really scary scenes with much build up of tension. Your Choice!
