The Ancient Roman Term called ‘’Carmen’’ was associated with two forms of ‘’Magical Prayer’’. The first, ‘’Carmen Arvale’’ (generated by Temple Priests) and second – ‘’Carmen Saliare’’ (which could be invoked by anyone). Seen as both – a form of ‘’Good and Evil’’ Magic, Carmens were used interchangeably. Often, written – they would be saved IF it was determined that the ‘’spell’’ worked. If not, all traces of The Carmen (written) was destroyed. Some Historians cite that Carmens were ‘’Chanted Spells’’ and would many Centuries be incorporated in the standard Christian Chant (save all traces of Paganism being removed). No musical instruments are used during the recitation of a Carmen.
