Captain Debas

Unlike other Loas and Ghedes (Guides) in Caribbean Folk Magic (Voodoo), ''Captain Debas'' is neither a transplanted African God nor a Catholic ''composition''. He was specifically ''created'' by Voodoo Hexers. Possibly ''used'' to ''scare'' or at best reinforce (bind) a particularly powerful spell – Captain Debas is often portrayed as a Reptile (Snake). His ''Title'' is common among Haitian Deities due to the many hundreds of years of Spanish and French Colonization (Military Forces).
