Main antagonist of The ''Candyman'' Horror Movie Franchise of the 1990s, The Being known as ''Candyman'' first appeared in English Horror Writer Clive Barker's ''Books of Blood'' series (as a short story called ''The Forbidden''). Portrated by American Actor Tony Todd, his ''Candyman'' is a worthy addition to Movie Horror. The Being Candyman is a tortured evil spirit demon, wronged in life who seeks revenge on those foolish enough to utter his name ''3 times'' in a mirror. This is homage to the English Urban Myth of ''Bloody Mary''. Upon invoking him, he kills the victim by virtue of a long gaffing hook (in place of his once human hand). As per his legend and curse one is cut from ''the gullet to the groin''. He stalks the American Urban landscape of poorer neighborhoods (Black Ghettos).

As the film series later explains, ''Candyman'' is none other than Daniel Robitaille. He was a ''Free Man of Color'' who was a talented portrait painter in Louisiana of the 1870s. Commissioned to paint the daughter of a wealthy ''White'' Planter the two fall in love. Enraged upon finding this out, The Father gets a Posse. They hunt Daniel down and (after a beating), cut off one of his hands (hence the later hook). The Posse secure wild honeycombs from a tree and smear the sticky substance all over Daniel. The Bees (stirred to a frenzy) attack and sting Daniel to near death. Before he died, the jeering Posse nickname him The Candyman (for the honey). He curses the name before dying. His legend is thus born. Three films comprise the franchise, which are a worthy addition to anyone's Horror Film Library.
