''Candy Cane Lane'' is a typical Children's Park – as are many in The United States (and perhaps The World). The Park (owned by The City of Le Grange in The State of Oregon), caters to young children. Built in the mid-1970s, The Park features swings, teeter totters and just about everything else a kid would relish to play with and on. It's unusual motif – plenty of wooden white and red painted Candy Canes throughout. Even the amusements are painted to match. Perhaps (when built) – The Park was trying to capture a ''Christmas'' vibe. It is unclear. But in 1980, a tragic and horrible incident occurred. A local Barmaid was lured to The Park one night in December and brutally raped and murdered (stabbed many times). Her body was discovered by local Police. Without any witnesses or chain of evidence, The ''Candy Cane Park Murder'' has went unsolved as a Cold Case to this very date.
Since the murder, Patrons to The Park have cited many strange events. A large Carousel in the center of the Park, was known to spin without control very fast. Almost as if the device was under some ''unseen hand's control''. The phenomenon only happened IF no children were present on the ''ride''. It was – incidentally – the very Carousel that the [poor Barmaid's body was found. In addition, people report a ''strange mist'' – almost with ''legs and arms'' (it seems) – that ''floats thru the Park''. The phenomenon is said to always ''stop'' at The Carousel. In the 1990s – The Carousel was removed (never replaced). Apparently this act has annoyed The Spirit of perhaps the murdered woman (whom many say it is). The ''mist'' will travel to the location of the old Carousel and simply linger – until it disappears altogether. ''Screams'' and other odd phenomenon have also been reported over the years.
