A strange Folk Tradition of Romanian People, the many Centuries old ‘’Calusari’’ have both well known and quite mysterious origins. Seen a ‘’Folk Dancers’’ and Performers of traditional Romani musical instruments, Their organization founding is not known. They appear in European writing around the 16^th Century AD. Despite Their ‘’simple style’’, it is said The Calusari are in reality a ‘’Secret Fraternity’’, specially trained as ‘’Exorcists’’ and ‘’Demon Hunters’’. The overall secrecy of The Group, which still today takes an Oath which – if violated, will result in One’s death – is also very much condemned by The Western as well as Eastern Rites of The Catholic Church. It is speculated, that The Calusari ‘’Elders’’ are well versed and trained in traditional Romani Folk Remedies and Mythology. This allows Them to (when requested), ‘’fight’’ demonic and spiritual possession. Nothing is known about Their recruitment practices, or even ‘’how’’ One is ‘’chosen’’ to join. Some speculate further – that most Calusari Shaman are ’’Father and Son’’ teams, passing down Their ‘’knowledge’’ from one Generation to another in this fashion (hence no real recruiting).
