A Chinese Taoist Deity, ''Caishen'' was ''God of Wealth''. He is personified as a ''Grand Old Man'' who rides a ''Black Tiger'' and carries a ''Golden Rod''. Invoked during the beginning of Chinese (Lunar) New Year, by invoking His name and making an offering of One's money, ''personal Wealth'' will so increase. Caishen was said to also turn simple Iron into Gold. As such He was highly revered by the ancient Chinese Emperors.
