A particularly brutal Medieval Torture device - was The ''Brodequin''. The Victim would be placed onto a wooden chair or similar seat (in a sitting position). Strong narrow wooden slats or boards would be affixed tightly to the Victim's legs (inside or outside). The legs would be brought together closely and tied (sandwiched). Next, wooden wedges would be driven into the spaces between the legs and wooden boards - with great force (generally using a hammer or mallet). The resulting force would cause the bones of the leg to instantly shatter and break. As a result, massive pain would be delivered. In addition, the marrow from the broken bones would seep into the blood stream. Death was not far off. A very painful way to die.
