''Bori''

These particularly nasty Forest Demons are said to live in West Africa. The Bori take great delight in terrorizing humans. Having Shapeshifting abilities, they will take the firm of things that are horrifying to people - such as a Giant Snake or a Headless human. The Bori generally like to remain invisible. Their footprints are seen as ash. When they do take "traditional" human form, they do this to hide in crowds of humans. They can be seen by looking for that "one person" who does not look "quite right". Perhaps it will be one eye bigger than the other, or one ear bigger etc. Bori's become angered if one builds a fire and allows the fires embers to pop and jump. An invisible Bori can be burnt. They do not like this. Their revenge as such is very slow. They will slowly drain the lifeforce from their victim's (as if they were wasting away). Defenses against The Bori are difficult. One must wear a piece of iron on the body (or keep iron in one's home). Bori hate the metal. If one can learn The Bori's true name, one can enslave them. This requires strong magic from a Village Shaman.
