 Originally a 1973 Marvel Comic, Blade was developed as an Anti-Hero and was one of the first Black American Superheros/ The Comic messed both the Horror and Superhero genres. Years later a successful franchise of 3 movies, beginning in 1997 -  (as well as a short lived Television series), were also made. Although Blade has had many rewrites of his origin story , traditionally, Eric Brooks his real name, was born half-human and half-vampire. His Mother was attached and bitten just prior to his birth. Although his Mother died, he lived. Empowered with vampire fangs and their thirst for blood he also has their super-human strength. Young Eric can also walk around in the daylight and heals much faster than a human when wounded. As a street orphan he is found by the mysterious man named Whistler . Teaching him the Way of The Warrior , Eric now Blade, is a Master of all forms of Martial Arts and weapons. Armed with a special drug (designed by Whistler), Blade can control his vampiric urges for blood. With a hate for The Undead, Blade hunts them into extinction.
