The Myth of The Bitoso originated among The Roma People, possibly around the 15th Century. Known as "The Fastening Ones", they were roughly 1.5 inches long. The creatures have a worm-like appearance with multiple heads. Their attacks method was simple. It was said that they burrowed into the ear or mouth of their victims (preferring the teeth). Once there, intense pain would soon begin, as The Bitoso burrowed deeper into the affected area. In cases of the ear, the pain could cause insanity. In cases of the teeth, even more so. Often the only relief from the pain was suicide. It is unclear if The Bitoso were intelligent creatures. They are sometimes given ""Fairy" qualities in many Roma stories. Sleeping with plugs in one's ear, or wrapping a cloth around the jaw (to keep the mouth shut at night), was seen as a treatment against the Bitoso.
