According to 16th Century AD accounts, The Benandanti were a secretive Sect who lived in Northwestern Italy. They were said to have the Power to ''leave their bodies at will'' – relating to possibly Astral projection and Bilocation. Reports further state, that The Benandanti (unlike traditional who can only leave their physical form during sleep), they could manifest this ability ''anytime''. An early (perhaps) example of ''Spiritual Possession'', The Sect could ''be present'' to witness events perhaps important to others and possess The Living, to control their actions. As expected, should The Benandanti (in living guise), be killed – their ''Spirit'' would be forever trapped in The ''Outside World''. They were related to Witches, Warlocks and Alchemists. And while no real proof of their existence can be found ''officially'' – this may be due to the massive purges against Witches and Witchcraft, which resulted in mass tortures and execution. The Benandanti may simply have left Italy.
