Bergmonck

Of Medieval Germanic origins, The Bergmonck were said to be malevolent Spirits that took the form of "earthly" Monks or Priests. Their true form is unknown. Capable of attaining huge, giant-like size, they guard various Mines and Deposits. At first their legends centered around only those Mines owned by The Church. They would scare off trespassers who tried to steal from the Church. Later, their legend was applied to Royal Mines. The Bergmonck cannot be tricked or persuaded from their tasks.
