From 2nd Century BC Rome – ‘’Bellona’’ was a ‘’Goddess of War’’. Consort to the more ‘’well known’’ Mars (who occupied the traditional role of ‘’War God’’), Bellona was most often (personified) as a ‘’Warrior Woman’’ with Helmet, Sword and Shield. Her Icons were placed inside War Chariots. While somewhat popular in Rome, Bellona was used (as War Goddess) in many Roman Territories.
