By Crusader1307

Originating in Medieval Russia, a Batog was a wooden Rod (several feet long) - and the width of a ''Man's finger'' and was used to Torture via Beating. The Victim would be staked to the ground in an "X" position. The Administrators of the Punishment would begin to beat the Victim on the back, buttocks and upper thighs. If the Batog broke, another was substituted. Beating did not stop until ordered. Seldom did the Victim die, but would be severely crippled and unable to walk for many weeks (or months).
