Batara Kala

Balinese Mythology describes The Goddess ‘’Batara Kala’’ as an Underworld Deity, who guards The ‘’Cave of The Dead’’. This structure is where Souls of Those who transgress are assigned after physical Life. While akin to the Western concept of ‘’Hades’’ and punishment – Batara Kala ensures that such Souls are properly ‘’trained’’ so that They may be reincarnated to another Life. This ‘’education’’ is thought to be the Eastern ideology of ‘’Purgatory’’. She is also identified with ‘’Light and Darkness’’.
