Much like the Ancient Greek and Roma belief of personifying the unknown and attaching (at times), Human qualities to Cultural Mythologies, so too – did The Japanese in ancient times. The Banana Tree is an example of such. The common fruit bearing plant is host to a Spirit (or Yokai), called ‘’Bashonosei’’. ‘’She’’ is a malevolent Entity, whose true origins are lost to time. Said (perhaps) to be the Spirit of some transgressor against The Budai (Creator God), this hapless Bring was turned into The Banana Tree Plant. Bashonosei was given the ‘’ability’’ to manifest Herself into Human form – either a young woman or wise Priest. He goal is to ask (and request a response to) questions which call into account Budai’s cruelty (assumedly for turning her into a plant). Her ‘’story’’ was used as a cautionary tale in Japanese Literature and Bashonosei as what NOT to emulate (regarding questioning ''God''.)
