Barghest

 From Northern England, comes the stories of The Barghest. These demonic, part-goblin and part canine creatures are huge beasts with large fangs and claws. Some variations have The Barghest as a spirit  capable of changing shape into a huge dog or bear). First seen around the mid 19th Century, they are described as having glowing eyes and  that the sounds of rattling chains often accompany them. Hearing and seeing them represents an impending death  usually of an evil person.
