According to Dante's ''Divine Comedy'' (''The Inferno'') – ''Barbariccia'' was a Guard of the ''trenches'' which surrounded The ''Eight Circle'' of Hell. A ''dutiful and serious'' Demon, Lucifer saw Him as One of His most ''obedient''. His name – translated to ''Curly Beard'' was seen as His identifier. It was Barbariccia that escorted Dante and Virgil thru The Eighth Circle.
