In Chinese Taoism and several other ancient Far Eastern Belief Systems, The ‘’Bagua’’ was a Trigram symbol which combined the traditional ‘’Yin and Yang’’ imagery with a series of (8) related side (positions), which held various magical spells or insightful phrases. These were often arranged in a hexagonal pattern around The Yin and Yang. Together, this forms The Bagua. The symbol was also associated with The ‘’Eight Spiritual Directions’’. Used as a ‘’focal point’’ for contemplative prayer, it was also thought that The Bagua could actually channel One’s mental energy. Versions worn (as a Talisman), are seen as a form of ‘’powerful’’ protection against Evil or wrongdoing.
