What was perhaps an American Lumberjack ‘’Urban Legend’’, The ‘’Augerino’’ may have actually existed in some form. As the Legend went, Lumberjacks found that many of Their dams and such were coming up dry. Upon closer examination, a series of long, straight ‘’bore holes’’ could be found throughout the makeshift structures. It was later found to be a long, worm-like Beast, called The Augerino (from the word Auger). Part of the worm was ‘’fleshy’’ and the other was a ‘’long bone-like tusk’’. The Augerino hated any form of wet or dam. Needing a dry climate (not altogether easy in 19th Century Colorado), The worms drained the dams and took up ‘’residence’’. And while such ‘’Tall Tales’’ (as we have seen), were VERY common, in 2013 – a fossilized species of prehistoric Creature (dating to 200 Million years past) was discovered. The remains bore a strange resemblance to….You guessed it, The Augerino!
