Atui Joro Ekashi

An enormous Beast, Japan's Atui Joro Ekashi were said to live for many Centuries in Ancient Japan. The were hundreds of feet long and weighed thousands of pounds. Resembling a Giant Leech (with a gelatinous sack-like body), they lived on Mount Hokkaido. They had an enormous, sucker-like mouth and two very small eyes. So large was the mouth of the Atui Joro Ekashi, that they could swallow an entire, full sized Whale (or even a Ship), which they did regularly. It was said that by the 16th Century, only 2 of their species were left. They were hunted to extinction by Villagers for their meat. Just one carcass could feed and entire Village for a year. It was also said that the Atui Joro Akasji "tasted" like Squid!
