1957s ''Attack of The Crab Monsters'' was a production of American Director Roger Corman (well known Pop Cinema Producer of ''Schlock'' Films often low budget, but high content). This movie of His was on of his few (and early efforts), to capitalize on ''Atomic War'' fear which was a feature of The ''Cold War''. In this Black and White offering, a Group of Scientists investigate reports of Giant Crabs on a Pacific Island. It seems these irradiated Monsters crave Humans as food. As they ingest them, they retain their knowledge. The Crabs plan to reproduce and take over The World. However, The Island (once part of a Atomic Bomb Testing Area) was made unstable by the blast (suffering Earthquakes), and is slowly sinking into The Pacific. The Crabs take over Members of The Expedition's ''Minds'' (they also have psychic abilities!), in an attempt to ''rescue'' their Eggs. One of the Group sacrifices himself to kill the last surviving Crab Monster and Her Brood (with electricity), as The Island sinks. Only a small sliver of land remains with those survivors of The Expedition. Noted for it's ''Giant Crabs'' with ''Human-like Faces'' (made so by their ingestion of Human intelligence), these were large rubber Devices with wire activated ''legs''. The film was considered on of Corman's ''favorites''. Campy fun if nothing else.
