The Legend of The ''Atargatis'' comes from (originally) Northern Syria. Dating back some 1,500 years, the name is both a Classification of Beings, as well as the name of a particular Goddess. Atargatis was ''Queen of The Sea'' and Patrol of all other ''Supernatural Creatures'' relating to Water. Her Cult was so long lasting and remembered, that She would become a type of Cultural Symbol in Syria. Found on coinage and personified into Art (for Protection), Atargatis had an extensive Priesthood (Men), who were ''made'' Eunuchs. Women were forbidden to assist or ''show themselves'' in her Shrines or Temples (having to have a Male Family Member make the required offerings). Similar in image to a ''Mercreature'', She was part Human and part Fish.
