 Human by day, The Asema is an evil spirit from Surinam, South America. Said to resemble ans Old Woman, The Asema are known blood drinkers. At night, The Asema transforms into a blue ball of light (leaving it's skin behind). It this form they can easily enter into a person's home to consume them! The eating of fresh Garlic will ward of The Asema (as the victim's blood becomes too bitter). As with other Vampire lore, it is said that the throwing of rice or sesame seeds on the floor in front of one's door, will cause The Asema to stop and count them (over and over). The Asema must go back to wear it left it's skin and retake a human form before sunrise (lest they be trapped in their Astral Form ).
