From The Upper Northwestern United States, comes a Lumberjack story from the 19th Century, about a creature called an Argopelter. They were very small humanoid-primates that lived inside tree hollows. They were known to enter and exit from the top of the tree (cut off or a hole). They are very fast and seldom seen because of it. The Argopelter is known to pick up and throw Pine Cones, Acorns, Rocks or pieces of Wood so hard, that a person can be knocked out cold. The Argopelter is said to especially like attacking Lumberjacks (for their daily work often disturbs their sleeping).
