Arachne is a term used to classify various species of Spider (Arachind) in Science. It's origns however, go back to Ancient Greece and the particular mythology regarding Arachne. First ''recorded'' in 8 AD (although it is much older), Arachne was a talented mortal woman whose skill at weaving was said to even challenge Athena (who also held such skill). A ''contest'' was arranged between Goddess and Human. Arachne proved Her skills over Athena, who became enraged and beat the girl badly. Saddened at offending The Goddess, Arachne hung Herself. This angered Zeus, who felt that the contest was fair, resurrected Arachne as – a Spider. This is seen as to why Arachnids are so skilled with their ''web making''.
