An Ancient Nubian (originally) Deity, ‘’Apedemak’’ was ‘’Protector’’ of Rulers (Kings and Queens). Personified as a Lion, Apedemak was often portrayed with a ‘’Crown and Sword’’. His Cult was found mostly in what was known as ‘’Lower Egypt’’ – beginning around the 1st Century BC. Later adopted by Egypt's ‘’Upper Kingdom’’ (even before Ra), He would later still be associated with Protection of Royal Houses well into the 3rd Century BC.
