These Medieval Bestiary creature was described in the 14th Century as moderate sized serpentine beasts which had the head of a Dragon, They had no wings with which to fly and no legs to crawl about. Sometimes referred to as Belly Dragons , they were used as a writing device to convey foolishness. It was said that it's skin was so desired for clothing that it was hunted to extinction by the 16th Century.
