''Alien'' (1979)

The main Monster of the widely successful Sci-Fi/Horror franchise Alien. Originally seen in the original 1979 film, there were 4 direct spin-off movies as well as a side story line series (crossover) of 3 more. The creature has worked it's way into popular modern culture. In the original storyline, these creatures are classified as Xenomorphs. They have a a reptilian-semi skeletal exo-skeleton. They feature a large primary maul with rows of razor sharp fangs. In addition, they have a secondary maul capable of extending away from the mouth of the creature by over 1 foot. The also possess a long sharpened bone-like tail, very similar to a Scorpion's striker. Some species can reach up to 12 feet tall (with Queens being much larger). Aliens have a final defensive method in their blood. Their blood is a viscous green material that is much like acid, and can burn through all types of material very quickly. Aliens possess basic intelligence (although it has been thought that they retain some of the instincts and abilities of the species they compromise. Aliens reproduce via an embryotic parasite called a ''Face Hugger''. These hand-shaped creatures are much smaller than their full sized relations. They possess a tubular extension that is used to inject a fetus (for developing inside their host). The Face Hugger will wrap itself around the face and head of it's victim and push it's tubular injector into the mouth and down the throat of the unfortunate. Injecting the egg, the Alien will begin to grow into a large 12 inch semi-fetal Alien.

Upon birth, these forms are called ''Chest Busters'' - due to their birth via exploding through the chest cavity of their Host. They will then go and hide while they grow (very rapidly) and their exo-skeleton hardens. There are 3 types of Alien species. Workers, (that tend to a Queen), Soldiers (that defend the Queen and Hive) and finally The Queen herself. Alien Hives are very similar to most insect communities. The Queen will produce the eggs (in which Face Huggers are born). She can produce as many as 20 eggs per hour. Aliens communicate via a series of growls and have not advanced communication abilities. They can exist in just about any environment in the Universe. It had also been said that Aliens were actually genetically engineered as a Prey species by another alien race known as The Predators.
