Of Hindi origins, ‘’Alashmi’’ was The Goddess of Misfortune and Bad Luck. A Demon, She was portrayed in Art and Literature as a ‘’shriveled Hag (Old Woman), with no teeth and frail’’. Alakshmi rode the Earth on a Donkey (unclean animal). If One was experiencing ‘’Misfortune’’, mostly thru ‘’Bad Karma’’, They were said to be haunted by Her. Only in doing ‘’Good’’, could One eventually rid Themselves of her influence.
