An ''Afterlife'' Concept popular in Eastern Orthodox Church – is that ''Toll Houses'' exist (invisible to The Living). After a Person dies, it is believed that their Soul is ''escorted'' By Angels to Heaven and God. However, each Soul must pass thru a series of ''dimensions'' were they are ''confronted by Demons'', each forcing The Soul to admit and recant it's ''Life's Sins''. Eastern Orthodoxy states that there are roughly (20) such Houses, thru which Souls must pass before being presented before God. Each covers a particular Sin or Vice which must be ''purged''. Failure to accept Remittance of Sin and Vice, is a ''straight trip'' to Hell. Relative to a version of Purgatory in Western Rite Ideology, Toll Houses – while mostly accepted by Older Followers of The Church, are often condemned as being Heretical and intrinsically ''Evil'' by Modern Church Elders.
