The title character of the 1984 film series A Nightmare On Elm Street, Freddy's origins are long (and sometimes confusing). In essence, he is a ghost-demon infused by evil forces with the ability to stalk and kill within ones dreams. Preferring teenagers as his victims, Freddy was the basterd son of a Nun who worked in a Mental Asylum. The Nun was captured and raped by many, many criminally insane patients. Being a Nun, she had no choice but to give birth to the child. Giving up the child for adoption, it took no time for Freddy's genetics to kick in. He tortured and killed small animals, and performed all other kinds of perversions. Trying to live a normal life, Freddy eventually marries and has his own family. He takes a job as a School grounds keeper. As time progressed his penchant for abuse leads him to kidnapping and killing children. Escaping justice on a technicality, the parents of the neighborhood hunt Freddy down and burn him alive. His remains are secretly buried. Freddy's spirit returns, cursing his murderers by hunting down and killing his murderer's children in their sleep. His face and body are horribly scarred. Ne is noted for the use of his Gardener's Glove (used in Topiary sculpting). The glove is fixed with 5 razor sharp blades (which he slashes at his victims with). The story had 6 successive film franchises (as well as subsequent remakes and reboots) have all modified Freddy's story somewhat. Still, Freddy has survived as a truly horrific member of modern Horror's current stars (and probably will to continue for some time).
