I can't play 1.3, my game crashes. I can only play 1.2 at the moment, but I've bought another one and I'm awaiting it's arrival. I'll try playing with that, but it's likely to not work or go slow like last time. I'll leave it up to EaglePrince as to what we should do, it's his event :)

It's obviously just a specific error it's encountering in a set place. The only way I think you'll solve it is getting a replacement.

That file is on the disk so I'm confused as to why that would spring an error on one PC but not the other, despite how old it is.

I think it could be OS related, but an OS problem wouldn't trigger a IS_STRING_NOT_DEFINED error by itself. That's to do with the actual data on the disk.

If he upgraded a lot, then it sounds like it's newer operating systems that's the problem. You'll have to tell me how it's done in the end, this is really making me think - I have no idea how it could be done.

Unfortunately it's not as simple as just copying files - I believe it modifies (or adds values into) regedit so by just copying files it wouldn't work - though I may be wrong. ** EDIT ** There's a thought - is regedit disabled?

It's certainly very puzzling, but you'd be best contacting take 2. Hope you get it sorted in the end :)

There's nothing else you can do then - you'll have to contact take2 for a replacement. You do have the official copy, so it should get replaced. How long has this error been going on for that you remember? They will still replace it probably as it's still supported by them. I've just bought a new copy (not from them though), so hopefully they'll just send a replacement out soon. P.S. Double Posting makes it more complicated to read topics - I've merged your other three posts above, but for future reference, could you edit rather than post again?

If you're talking about an illegal copy of the game when you talk about getting one online, then no one here will assist you in looking for that or helping you getting one - it is against the site rules, sorry. How long ago did you get the disk, and from where?

What is the exact message you get when installing?

You're on Windows 8, aren't you? Did it work on an earlier version? - it could just be a OS issue

What is the error?

I have to agree there, and in some ways, it's better than just the in-game multiplayer setup as if the game suddenly crashed you won't lose players.

Yes, time for another attempt with SH2 multiplayer. The version we play with can be decided later.

1.4.1 is still the only option as far as I know - but maybe you can play with other versions now GameRanger is used. You would have to keep the following in mind by doing so though: The 1.4.1 maps will not be playable on the 1.3.1 version and the same for 1.4 Playing with different versions could result in something like what happened when we attempted to play SHC (or worse) All the list of updates (show below) wouldn't be there and issues such as the Knight not mounting a horse while moving would still be present ** Updates ** These are only updates for the 1.4.1 version Blank games and duplicate games no longer appear in the multiplayer lobby. Disbanded troops now appear from the player's hovels. If no hovels are placed peasants will appear outside the keep. Troops placed in stockpiles can now be targeted by enemy players. Stone quarries can now be placed on both Island Hopping and Rocky Island free build maps. A player can no longer open and close their gatehouse once it has been captured by the enemy. Sally ports now appear hidden to enemy players. Fixed issue when dismounting units so that the animation only plays once, preventing them from crossing inaccessible terrain. Sounds like a really big challenge to get one of your maps right - I know just how hard it is to copy other castles, I once attempted to copy Helm's Deep in Stronghold 2... never again. It's impossibly hard, and requires a lot of patience as well as skill in the editor. Looking forward to see what you still have in store for us! :)
