Unlike The Yeoman Guard, Warders have a specific function. Theirs was to guard and protect England's Tower of London. Organized in 1485. As “Jailers” it was their responsibilities to keep all prisoners accounted for, The Tower properly secured and to maintain the Keys to perform that function. They are also partly responsible for the protection of The Crown Jewels. They currently wear Tudor Era uniforms and (like The Yeoman Guard), they are now made up of retired Senior ranking Non-commissioned Officers who have achieved certain award commendations.
