Xlejli Towers are a form of Fortified Watchtowers – which are found on The Island of Malta. One of the last surviving is constructed of sandstone and is roughly 125-Feet in height. The Tower(s) predate their usage by The Crusading Knights of Malta (15th (Century), and may have been erected by Ancient Rome (when occupied in the 3rd Century AD). Although not a fighting structure by design, The Towers would easily secured as many as (10) Archers, Crossbowsmen (and Later Musketmen). Offering a commanding view (as a ''Watch and Ward'' Device), the overall shape is rounded with a Crowned Top. This allowed access to a small parapet (for observations).
