Sometimes referred to as the “Texas Constitutional Flag” or “The Dodson Flag”, it was designed and raised in 1835 – at the start of Texas Independence from Mexico. The first meeting of the Texas Constitutional Covention was at Washington-on-The Brazos (Texas). Sarah Dodson made this flag for use by not only The Committee, but by the first Texas Volunteers who signed on that day to defend Texas. Pennant in design, the Flag was 3-feet long and featured a single long Field. The coloring was Blue, White and Red. The Blue “mini” Canton featured a single White Star (the later symbol of Texas).
